Dr. Petros Stavroulakis graduated with a Bachelors of Engineering in Electronics (First class) in 2006, a Master of Science in Nanoelectronics (with Distinction) in 2007 and with a Doctorate in Nanotextured antireflection layers in 2010, all acquired at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom.

After his studies he immediately joined Sencon UK Ltd as a KTP associate in collaboration with City University London and led the optics and measurement algorithm development, of the Sencon optical non-contact thin film thickness measurement gauge, ab initio. The product developed was a completely customized in-house product, that was field proven to become the world's best measurement machine in its class in terms of accuracy, stability and range of measurement capability.

In 2013, he went on to work for the National Physical Laboratory in London, UK as a Higher Research Scientist, and helped develop a bespoke vibration isolation table for satellite thruster testing to the European Space Agency. In 2014, he started a post-doctorate at the University of Nottingham on 3D scanning for 3D printing applications. In 2019, he joined the European branch of Shining3D in Stuttgart Germany as Research Manager where he led research projects, mainly on developing AI enhancement strategies and algorithms for the company's range of dental 3D scanning products.
